CRCC Category D

Utah State University provides the coursework required to fulfill the Commission on Rehabilitation Counselor Certification (CRCC) Category D.

Requirements:  Master's in Counseling that includes ONE integrated OR TWO separate graduate courses with the primary focus on Theories of Counseling AND Techniques of Counseling - college or university accredited by CHEA - PLUS:

OPTION 1

  • TWO or THREE graduate courses with the individual or combined primary focus on 1) Medical Aspects of Disability; 2) Psychosocial Aspects of Disability; AND 3) Multicultural Issues.
  • THREE graduate courses on Assessment, Occupational Information of Job Placement, and Case Management and Rehabilitation Services.
  • Thirty-six (36) months of acceptable employment experience including twelve (12) months supervised by a CRC.*

OPTION 2

  • TWO or THREE graduate courses with the individual or combined primary focus on 1) Medical Aspects of Disability; 2) Psychosocial Aspects of Disability; AND 3) Multicultural Issues.
  • ONE graduate course on either Assessment, Occupational Information or Job Placement, or Case Management and Rehabilitation Services.
  • Forty-eight (48) months of acceptable employment experience including twelve (12) months supervised by a CRC.*

OPTION 3

  • TWO or THREE graduate courses with the individual or combined primary focus on 1) Medical Aspects of Disability; 2) Psychosocial Aspects of Disability; and 3) Multicultural Issues.
  • Sixty (60) months of acceptable employment experience including twelve (12) months supervised by a CRC.*

* If employment criteria is met, but lacks CRC supervision, applicant must complete Provisional Supervision.

Note:  Utah State University does not determine whether or not a student qualifies for the Category D.  CRCC makes the determination on eligibility.

 

All courses below are offered via distance education. Courses are streamed live through the internet and attendance is required.  Tuition is $416/credit hour.  Students take courses towards the Category D at USU as non-matriculated students; they are not admitted into a specific degree program.  We require only a short application (no test scores, transcripts, letters of recommendation, etc.).  For more information, or to apply, contact Kris Wengreen .
